Awakened Community: How Individual Virtues Serve the Whole

Community itself is a practice.

It asks us not only to bring our voices, but also our presence, patience, and humility. In this way, community becomes a mirror: showing us where we contract in fear, and where we can open into love.

The Enneagram offers a unique lens for this practice. It teaches that within each fixation — the patterns that keep us stuck (or fixated) — lies a holy path, a virtue.

These virtues are not abstract ideals; they are living medicines that, when shared, weave us into something greater than ourselves.

  • Ones bring serenity, the gift of perceiving perfection in all things as they are.

  • Twos bring humility, a love that needs nothing in return.

  • Threes bring truthfulness, the courage to be real rather than perform.

  • Fours bring equanimity, emotional balance and depth of presence.

  • Fives bring non-attachment, spaciousness and clarity of wisdom.

  • Sixes bring courage, trust that steadies and protects.

  • Sevens bring sobriety, joy rooted in presence, not distraction.

  • Eights bring innocence, vitality and strength without domination.

  • Nines bring right action, a reminder to engage fully and awaken from inertia.

Each of these is medicine. Each is a thread. And together, they form the fabric of an awakened community.

🌿 Reflection for you:
Which of these virtues do you feel called to embody in your community today?
