CYS is an approved farm with the World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms Organization: www.wwoofusa.org
The property consists of approximately 1/2 acre organic vegetable gardens, flower and herb gardens, an orchard, bees, chickens and horses. WWOOFers have access to yoga classes and philosophy discussions as available, if desired. We are located in the foothills of the Ozarks and are within minutes from many natural wonders, such as the National Buffalo River for floating, national park hiking trails like Hawksbill Crag, elk herds, crystal caves and more.
We can host a maximum number of three WWOOFers in the spring through mid-summer of 2016, and will host at least 1 through summer.
The property is connected to a water source provided by the rural water company; however, we collect our cooking and drinking water from a spring that is prolific, pure and does not need filtering.
We do not accept pets; however, we have many four-legged animals here for your enjoyment.
Our goal this season is to expand what is already in place in terms of production and also efficiency. We would like WWOOFers who have a basic knowledge of gardening. We also have a great interest in learning permaculture, and would like to move in that direction.
You must join the WWOOF organization and apply through their site.
5 Star Review!
"Circle Yoga Shala is a wonderful place! I've worked here all summer, and I've learned a lot. I've not only learned about gardening, but also how an intentional community functions and thrives. It is encouraged to practice self-observation, which I've enjoyed, and Matt and Holly are very supportive as I continue the journey. Regarding the garden, we have done improvements to increase yield and organization. I am excited about next growing season! The garden and encouraged self-observation are not the only aspects of this place that I love. Working with the animals has been a valuable experience. The food is awesome (we take Avurvedic principles into account, and Matt is a trained chef). There is a monthly sweat lodge, which has enhanced my inner life in unexpected ways. I've started the yoga teacher training, which is challenging my assumptions, and creating opportunities for courage. Rating this place feels weird, because I feel like such a part of it now. I feel like I'm rating myself. Objectivity is impossible, which is a good thing. So yeah, I like it here." Aaron K.
